How Virtual Events Work

The Corporate FunRun Virtual 5k:
The (Corporate FunRun Inc) Corporate FunRun Virtual 5k is a private, custom curated event which will enable your company, through a combination of viewers/voters and registered participants, to engage your entire workforce, regardless of office or home location.

Each virtual event consists of a 5k run/walk component for registered participants and a virtual race day component for everybody.
The 5k run/walk
With regards to the 5k, each registered participant will have the opportunity to run or walk a 5k course of their choosing (and submit their times if competing) within about 10 days of the virtual event day. The 10 day run/walk period will always include 4 weekend days and 5 weekdays. 5k race times can be recorded using virtually any platform desired by the participant. Walkers will operate on the honor system, we will take their word for it that they completed a 5k within the allotted time frame. We will have race day awards for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place male and female finishers and will post the results during the end of the live stream. All runners and walkers are encouraged to submit photos of themselves running or walking the 5k course.

The (Corporate FunRun Inc) Corporate FunRun Virtual 5k: Registration and Pre-Production

The virtual race day can be held from 9am-6pm on any weekday. Whatever day and time works for the hosting company, works for us. Each team captain selects their company’s race date when they register their team by clicking on the “create a team” icon at the bottom of the CFR home page. Team members can join the company team by clicking on the “join a team” icon for the Virtual 5k, opening up the company team page and registering themselves.

The team captain will also select THREE team building activities for their company as part of the registration process.

The suggested list of virtual team building activities are as follows:

  • Run/walk photo with your family and/or pet
  • Dress up your pet in corporate colors photo
  • Most delicious looking pizza photo
  • Best high school prom photo
  • Best looking craft cocktail photo
  • Tee shirt bedazzled in corporate spirit photo
  • 15 second dance off video (same song for all participants)
  • Most scenic run/walk photo
  • Favorite activity outside of work photo
  • Dress up from the 1980’s photo
  • Best seasonal activity photo
  • Other team building activity.

For each of the suggested team building activities listed above, the registration and photo submission processes is always the same. Other team members will vote on the team activity award winners during the live stream using the Google Forms link they will be sent pre-event.

Photos from some of the recently selected team building activities can be found on the bottom of our home page.

In addition to the three team building activities, on race day, all team members will participate in a “live” trivia challenge which will consist of ten (10) questions, five will be company specific and five will be based on popular culture, specifically current Netflix shows. Just like with the photo competition voting, answers will be submitted using Google Forms.

In order to fully understand how this event can ENGAGE THE ENTIRE COMPANY, it’s important to know the difference between a viewer/voter and a registered participant.

A viewer/voter will be able to:

  • view the entire virtual race day event from start to finish.
  • vote on the winners of all three team building activities.
  • participate in the race day trivia challenge.
  • “live chat” throughout the virtual race day event.

A registered participant:

  • signs up as a team member on-line by clicking on the “join a team” icon for the respective race.
  • will run or walk the 5k within 10 days of the virtual event, hopefully submitting photos of themselves on the course.
  • will have their photo included in the race day run/walk montage. (if submitted)
  • will upload their 5k race times if they want to compete for awards and be listed on the official results page.
  • will have their name called out during MC roll call.
  • will have the right to sign up for one of the three selected team building activities.
  • will upload a photo of themselves participating in the chosen team building activity.
  • will vote on the winners of the three team building activities.
  • will participate in the live race day trivia challenge.
  • will be able to engage in “live chat” throughout the virtual race day event.
